I went to see the Gastroenterologist today. Apparently IBS that is proven to be caused by SIBO can be treated with Rifaximin and Probiotics but the cure is not permanent. Symptoms return from 4 to 10 months.

Apparently this antibiotic kills the bacteria in small intestine but after a period of time bacteria starts to grow again, so it is a temporary relief.

He thinks that the reason why it is difficult to create a cure for this problem is because it is not easy to get to the small intestine, procedures such as – colonscopy or endoscopy cant reach it.

Anyone tried the medicine suggested above? Did it work?
